Spring 2005

Words from the Director

Publishers List

Bibles schools without books? We say “Impossible”! And we are doing something about it...with the Lord’s help. The Assemblies of God leads all denominations in overseas Bible schools, with over 500 in Latin America alone. So far we’ve supplied libraries for over 100 schools...but there are hundreds still waiting.   Here’s where we’ve placed Spanish & French resource libraries since Jan 1:

   Dom. Republic (Los Alcarrizos)

   El Salvador (San Salvador)

   Costa Rica (100 mini-pastoral libraries)

   Haiti (Delmas—a library in French)

These projects represent over 2,100 study Bibles, Bible dictionaries and pastoral books that will be used by hundreds of students. The Greatest Emphasis in Latin American missions in the future will be on training pastors and leaders. Today many countries have established their own church-planting programs as well as formed missions agencies; they’re building churches and sending out missionaries.  Without a doubt any ministry either rises or falls on the caliber of leadership it has at the head.  Paul told Timothy (2 Tim. 2:2), “the things you have heard from me...commit to faithful men who will also teach others.” This is our principal objective—TRAINING.

LALS offers a  resource list of Spanish publishers and distributors available on the booklists page. Feel free to contact these suppliers directly to place orders.

The Library Management System...

Other news

...is a valuable software tool that Al Anderson (Braeswood Assembly of God, Houston, TX) designed for use in Bible schools.  In early March,  Al and Everett presented it in two Hispanic Bible schools in California with much success.  We have it running in over 15 sites in Latin America.  The program is very user friendly and costs only $300.  A  demo version was given free to over 25 seminar participants

A Computer grant was given to us last year from the estate of former members of Caring First Assembly, St. Joseph, MO.  And did we ever need new computers!  We had a hodge-podge collection of old “dogs”.  With this generous gift we were able to purchase the following:

· Five Dells w/flat panel displays

· One Dell laptop

· HP color printer

· HP scanner

· Paper shredder

· Two web cams

· Digital Sony camera

· Other computer-related equipment.

We thank the Lord for this gift that has definitely put this Bible school ministry on a higher plane.
