LACLS is a missionary
service ministry for over 1,300 Bible schools throughout Latin America
and the Caribbean, and works directly under the auspices of
Assemblies of God World Missions. This is not a subsidized ministry;
it operates strictly through donations and library project sponsors.
The LACLS office is located a few miles from the United States
National Headquarters of the Assemblies of God, in an office complex
on the east side of Springfield, Missouri.
One might wonder why a
foreign missions ministry is based in the United States. The logic
behind this is simple. LACLS uses a variety of suppliers for the
books that are provided to the international libraries. With only
one exception, these suppliers are all located in the United States.
If this ministry were based in a foreign country, the international
shipping charges as well as import/export expenses would be
astronomical and would offset the substantial discounts that the
suppliers offer, thereby reducing the effectiveness of the donated
dollars.
With that in mind, Latin
America/Caribbean Library Services orders books from its location in
Springfield, Missouri. When received, the books are processed and
prepared in the offices of LACLS for delivery to the Bible colleges.

Services Provided By LACLS
Latin America Library
Services provides a wide range of helps for Bible school libraries
in Latin America and the Caribbean by procuring Bibles and study
books (Spanish/English/French), at discounted prices.
LACLS has seven suggested book lists arranged in hierarchal order to meet the
various needs of pastors, missionaries and Bible schools.

Upon receiving funding
from a school or sponsor, specified books are ordered then prepared
for shipment to the school. Book preparation includes: stamping with
school’s name, placing spine label with Dewey Decimal classification
number and protective seal, applying donor’s label, and printing
index cards (title, author, and subject).
LACLS also helps by
ordering library supplies for foreign Bible school libraries, such
as, spine labels, index cards, protective seals and other materials.
At the
request of a Bible school or a group of schools, LACLS conducts
on-site library training seminars for librarians and Bible school
personnel.
